Backyard Nature Challenge: Actividades al Aire Libre Fáciles y Gratuitas

Como muchos de nosotros aquí en el valle, puede ser difícil encontrar actividades al aire libre fáciles, accesibles y principalmente gratuitas para la familia (incluso para mí). Aquí hay algunos consejos y cosas que puede hacer que lo mantendrán en movimiento. No es necesario ser un experto en esto, bastará con un poco de aire fresco una vez a la semana. Pruébelo y tal vez encuentre un nuevo pasatiempo o pasión. Así que empieza a hacer una lista para cuando llegue el buen tiempo y prepárate para una divertida aventura al aire libre sin parar.   Distanciamiento social, cubrebocas, etc… Todos estos cambios que han traído estos últimos años han sido desafiantes para muchos, pero no podemos dejar de aprender y explorar. ¡No te preocupes! Walking Mountains Science Center lo tiene cubierto con una serie de actividades guiadas STEM que puede hacer en cualquier momento con sus hijos, solo o simplemente un proyecto simple para despejar la mente entre tareas en casa. 

Ingeniería al Aire Libre: 

¿Tus habilidades STEM se sienten oxidadas? ¿Necesita algo de privacidad de todas las personas en su casa que trabajan desde casa? Puedes practicar tus habilidades de ingeniería en tu patio trasero con la construcción de fuertes. Aprenda tres pasos para la ingeniería y luego practique esos pasos mientras diseña su fuerte.

Sentido del Olfato: 

los humanos toman muchas decisiones, desde qué comer hasta con quién pasar el rato, en parte basadas en el olfato. ¿Cuáles son algunos de tus aromas favoritos? Justo afuera de la puerta, ¡hay toneladas de olores en la naturaleza! Incluso si crees que no tienes muchos aromas naturales cerca de ti, huele más de cerca. ¡Salgamos y hagamos un inventario rápido de los aromas naturales cerca de su propia casa!

As many of us here in the valley it can be hard to find easy, accessible and mainly free outdoor activities for the family (even myself). Here is some advice and things you can do that will keep you moving. No need to be an expert at this, just a little fresh air once a week will do. Give it a try and maybe you might find a new hobby or passion. So start making a list for when the warmer weather arrives and get ready for a non-stop fun adventure outside.  

Social distancing, face masks, etc… All of these changes that these recent years have brought have been challenging for many, but we can’t stop learning and exploring. Do not worry! Walking Mountains Science Center has you covered with a series of STEM guided activities that you can do at any moment with your kids, by yourself or just a simple project to clear the mind between tasks at home.

Outdoor Engineering: 

Are your STEM skills feeling rusty? Do you need some privacy from all the people in your house who are working from home? You can practice your engineering skills in your backyard with fort building. Learn three steps to engineering and then practice those steps as you design your fort.

Scent Sense: 

Humans make lots of decisions, from what to eat to who to hang out with, in part based on smell. What are some of your favorite scents? Just outside the door, there are tons of smells in nature! Even if you think you don’t have a lot of natural scents near you, smell more closely. Let’s go out and take a quick inventory of the natural scents near your own home!

Tell an Epic Story: 

Have you ever gone on an adventure and experienced something amazing that you could not wait to share with your friends and family?  Members of the Walking Mountains education team share their stories and a quick guide on how to make your story truly epic. 

Shadow Showdown: 

Where do shadows come from? Did you know that they can change throughout the day? Check out this cool shadow experiment and explore what you can do with shadows.
