Creando Futuros Certeros: Amigos Mentores

La misión de Bright Future Foundation es “Crear Futuros Certeros: cambiando las vidas impactadas por violencia doméstica y agresión sexual” y a través de programas y servicios, es como lo logramos. 

Como la única agencia de servicio a las víctimas de la comunidad, BFF aspira romper el ciclo generacional de violencia y crear un camino sano y seguro a través de la prevención, intervención de crisis, abogacía, y servicios de recuperación a largo plazo. Logramos esta misión usando servicios culturalmente sensibles incluyendo un servicio de llamada 24/7, albergue de emergencia, Rapid ReHousing, alojamiento, servicios de estabilidad, abogacía, manejo de casos, consejería de traumas, servicios legales, mentoría juvenil, prevención de violencia, consulta y educación a la comunidad.  Bright Future tiene como prioridad la prevención como la mejor opción para crear un cambio duradero y eliminar la violencia de nuestra comunidad. Nuestro programa Youth Violence Prevention Program tiene dos enfoques, programas en la escuela y amigos mentores(buddy mentors). 

El/la buddy mentor lucha por inspirar y promover a la juventud a través de un desarrollo de amistad consistente y seguro. En el camino el/la buddy mentor será de apoyo, ánimo y guía para el/la joven. Pasando tiempo juntos, aprenderán nuevas cosas de cada uno y disfrutarán la relación de su amistad, el/la mentor apoya al joven a soñar en grande y asegurarse que su crecimiento sea de fortaleza. 

“Creo que lo más que he ganado de ser Buddy Mentor ha sido la experiencia de las amistades”, un mentor veterano(senior buddy) nos comparte.  

Ser un Senior Buddy es una de las experiencias más agradables y gratificantes que jamás tendrás. Podrás ayudar a moldear el futuro de un niño para estar mejor preparado para sus metas. La mejor parte es que es divertido. Siempre estamos buscando personas que anhelan impactar positivamente la vida de un niño y mejorar su comunidad simultáneamente.

Los voluntarios deben de ser mayores de 21 años y ser residentes primarios de Eagle County para participar. Los voluntarios deben completar una aplicación online sencilla pero detallada. Nosotros evaluamos las fortalezas que ofrece el adulto voluntariado y se le asigna un niño quien se beneficiaria de las características positivas que ofrece el adulto. Tomamos en consideración la historia, personalidades, intereses y experiencias de ambos el voluntario y nino. Nuestro equipo de trabajo tiene como enfoque encontrar el mejor mentor para cada individuo.  

Recuerde, no tiene que ser una persona brillante, atleta, famoso o rico - nuestros niños necesitan personas reales, quienes quieren divertirse, ser un buen modelo, y muchos se prestan para ser buena audiencia y fomentar la confianza como un adulto de confianza.

Making Futures Bright: Buddy Mentors

Bright Future Foundation’s mission is "Making Futures Bright: changing lives impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault” and through our programs and services, we are doing just that. 

As Eagle County's only community-based victim service agency, BFF aspires to break the generational cycle of violence and create a pathway to safety and security through the provision of prevention, crisis intervention, advocacy, and long-term healing services. We accomplish our mission by employing proactive and culturally sensitive services including a 24/7 crisis hotline, emergency shelter, Rapid ReHousing and housing stabilization services, advocacy, case management, trauma-informed counseling, legal services, youth advocacy and mentorship, and violence prevention, consultation, and community education.  

Bright Future prioritizes prevention as the greatest avenue for creating lasting change and eliminating violence in our community. Our Youth Violence Prevention Program is two-pronged, in school programming and Buddy Mentors. 

Buddy Mentors strives to inspire and foster youth through building consistent and trusting relationships. Along the way the mentor will offer support, encouragement, and guidance to the child. By spending time together, learning new things and enjoying a friendship, the mentor encourages the youth to dream bigger and grow stronger.  

One Senior Buddy shared, “I think what I’ve gained the most out of my Buddy Mentor experience is friendship.”

Being a Senior Buddy is one of the most enjoyable and fulfilling things you’ll ever do. You can help shape a child’s future for the better by empowering them to achieve. And the best part is, it’s actually a lot of fun. We’re always looking for people eager to positively impact a child and improve their community at the same time.

Volunteers must be at least 21 years of age and have primary residence in Eagle County to participate. A volunteer must also complete the simple, yet thorough, online application process. We assess the strengths offered by the adult volunteer and match it closely to a child who could best benefit from these positive characteristics. We take into consideration the backgrounds, personalities, interests, and experiences of both the volunteer and the child. Our program staff then aim to find the right buddy pairing.

Remember, you don’t have to be brilliant, athletic, famous or rich – our kids need real people, who want to have fun, be a positive role model, and most of all lend a listening ear and encouragement as a trusted adult friend.
