According to Eagle County Environmental Policy Planner Adam Palmer, the partnership with Walking Mountains Science Center on the Energy Smart Colorado Program has been instrumental in the success of programs. "The committed investment of Walking Mountains Science Center to staff leadership and healthy community design skills are already showing to be beneficial to the community" said Palmer.
In addition to their work on Energy Smart Colorado, Walking Mountains has invested in staff time and expertise to two other Eagle County initiatives, the Healthy Communities Coalition and the Regional Institute for Health and Environmental Leadership Community Design team. Walking Mountains staff member, Melissa Kirr, lead a Healthy Communities Coalition work group to create a map of food producers within a 100 mile-radius of the Town of Eagle and staff member, John-Ryan, is participating in a Leadership for Healthy Community Design Program, alongside Eagle County Public Health and Planning staff.
