End of School Year Gratitude

Written by Walking Mountains Science Center | May 5, 2023 5:24:41 PM

As we approach the end of the 22-23 school year, Walking Mountains Science Center would like to express our gratitude for the opportunity to provide our Field Science Programs to over 3,000 Kindergarten-8th grade students in the Eagle County School District. It's all thanks to the incredible support of our donors and partners, like Vail Resorts EpicPromise, that we can offer these programs to local students, teachers, and schools completely free of charge.

Walking Mountains’ Field Science Programs offer K-8 students outdoor learning experiences that not only complement their classroom curriculum but also enhance their scientific and environmental literacy, narrowing the achievement gap. These programs cover a wide range of topics, from geology and animal adaptations to ecology, snow science, and more.

Through hands-on investigations and multidisciplinary approaches that accommodate different learning styles, Walking Mountains’ graduate educators work closely with teachers to align the curriculum with state and district standards in language arts, math, and science.

With the support of Vail Resorts EpicPromise, and others, Walking Mountains is inspiring and educating the next generation of environmental stewards, from Kindergartners discovering “Nature’s Needs” to fourth graders exploring “Sustainable Energy” to middle schoolers investigating “Weather & Climate.”

Walking Mountains' school programs provide much more than just a field trip, and we are truly grateful for every student we have the privilege of serving. Each brings their own special perspective, talents, and energy to our outdoor classrooms, and we feel privileged to be a part of their educational journey.
