New Years Resolution To Be More Sustainable

Did you know that, according to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), twenty-seven percent of U.S. greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions come from transportation. Many of us adopt New Year's resolutions like eating more healthy or increasing our exercise regimen. Walking Mountains would like to encourage you to also adopt a green resolution to help you live more sustainably in 2019. Below are 3 ideas that you can resolve to do this year to help make a difference in the world and save some money too. Three tips for what you can do:

1.) Eliminate single-use plastics like plastic utensils, water bottles and straws. When shopping look for products with minimal plastic packaging.

2.) Become more energy efficient. Switch to LED light bulbs, unplug small electronic devices and appliances when not in use, and install a programmable thermostat.

3.) Reduce your vehicle emissions. Drive less, walk and bike more, utilize public transportation, and carpool whenever possible.
