How to Attend a Concert Sustainably

Did you know that the average American throws away approximately 185 pounds of plastic per year?

It is summer time, and while we are out enjoying the amazing outdoor opportunities that Eagle County offers the single use plastic consumption can add up quickly. Be prepared this summer and think ahead before going out. While attending events such as Vail’s free concert series Hot Summer Nights at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater think about reducing your plastic consumption. Checking venues’ policies before attending an event can help you understand how to be prepared to reduce plastic pollution. For example, the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater allows people to bring food items, commercially-sealed NON-ALCOHOLIC beverages, and empty water bottles.

Three tips for reducing plastic pollution at Hot Summer Nights.

  1. Bring an empty reusable water bottle to the event and avoid single use plastic water bottles.
  2. Pack a picnic! Bring food items and snacks from home in a reusable bag and avoid single use packaging.
  3. Carry reusable forks and spoons from home and avoid single use utensils.
