Fresh Off the Trail: Sky Pilot Wildflower Sighting

Written by Walking Mountains Science Center | Jul 27, 2017 5:06:39 PM

Soaring above tree line and lining alpine ridges are the beautiful purple blooms of the Sky Pilot, Polemonium viscosum. Regularly confused with the scent markings of marmot’s and other alpine rodents, the smell is designed to attract insects that help pollinate other Sky Pilot flowers.
