River Dynamics and Rafting

Have you ever wondered how something works or how something was made? In the monthly Science Behind series, we partner with a guest presenter to explore a large variety of interesting topics. The Science Behind series offers opportunities for adults to apply new knowledge and skills to everyday life, while having fun!

** This Science Behind event took place in May, 2012 **

River Dynamics and How they Impact Whitewater Rafting

What substance is more necessary to our existence than any other?  Water.  Right down to the molecule, our lives depend on it.  Join us as we explore the path water forges through our valley.  How has the landscape of the Eagle Valley been formed and what demands are placed upon the water flowing through?  How can we read the water as it moves across the landscape and how does this affect the ways in which we can enjoy this resource.  Walking Mountains Science Center will explore these dynamics in conjunction with Lakota River Guides as part of our monthly “Science Behind” series of classes.
