Linda-Wilde-The Science Behind a Good Hair Day

Have you ever wondered how something works or how something was made? In the monthly Science Behind series, we partner with a guest presenter to explore a large variety of interesting topics. The Science Behind series offers opportunities for adults to apply new knowledge and skills to everyday life, while having fun!

** This Science Behind event took place in July, 2017 **

The Science Behind a Good Hair Day

Healthy hair is not just a trend or fad; it simply never goes out of style. Having healthy hair is something that everyone in every culture strives to achieve regardless of length, color, and texture.  Hair is as different as the people it belongs to and knowing how to properly care for your hair type is an important part of maintenance routines. With the pollutants, chemicals, weather conditions, and styling techniques that affect your hair every day, maintaining a beautiful mane can pose a challenge.

On Thursday, July 27th Linda Wilde from West One Salon will share her talents and knowledge of hair health at Walking Mountains Science Center in Avon at 6:30 pm.  Linda will address how our environment, age, and overall health influence the look and feel of your hair and how hair could reveal signs of deeper health issues. Learn to fight dryness, why the ingredients of hair products matter, and steps you can take to return the balance of your hair and scalp to a natural state.

The health of your hair depends on a variety of factors, both internal and external.  Hereditary issues, illness, nutritional deficiencies, poor circulation, hormonal imbalances, stress, and environmental factors outside of your control can adversely affect the health and appearance of your hair.  Understanding the basics of hair health will help you achieve beautiful trendsetting styles, establish techniques for maintaining and caring for your natural tresses, and avoid the effects of chemical ingredients on the hair and body.
