The Actively Green Sustainable Business Certification Program is part of a larger movement to create a culture of sustainability throughout the Eagle Valley. Over 120 businesses have participated in the trainings with almost 40 businesses currently certified and many more actively working toward certification. The program was developed with global nonprofit partner Sustainable Travel International and any type of business or organization is encouraged to participate.
“Actively Green is a team effort, and we want to raise the bar in sustainable practices. Participating in a community-wide effort to set sustainable business goals and work together to follow through with our commitments is important to our business” said Shawn Bruckman, Director of Sustainability at Vail Honeywagon.
During the upcoming training businesses will learn about business sustainability best-practices: how to save money and reduce waste, engage employees in a green team, use a sustainability management system and create an action plan, and increase marketing power to attract more customers.
“Actively Green is another way we can show our stakeholders what we’re doing and that we’re proud to be a part of an environmentally responsible and socially equitable campaign that we really believe in” said Susie Tjossem, Executive Director of Colorado’s Ski and Snowboard Museum and Hall of Fame.
Organizations from any sector are encouraged to participate and a list of currently certified businesses can be found at www.walkingmountains.org/ag.
