In recognition of America Recycles Day on Nov. 15, the Town of Vail is joining communities around the country in hosting a series of events to encourage waste reduction and recycling. The town’s environmental office is partnering with the Vail Public Library and Walking Mountains Science Center on the local America Recycles Day Events.
This year’s activities will include a workshop at the library on in-home composting as well as a recycled art display featuring works completed by local students. The day will be highlighted by an electronics recycling and paper shredding event. Activities include:
Build your own Worm-Composter: Monday, Nov. 14, 5-7 p.m., Vail Public Library
Learn about worm-composting and how to build your own bin during this free workshop at the Vail Public Library. Worm-composting is a great way to compost materials indoors. The class will be taught by local resident Jackie Clark. She is registered with the American Horticultural Therapy Association as a professional horticultural therapist and has facilitated programs at the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens for more than 10 years. All supplies will be provided; class is limited to the first 20 people to sign up. Register by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 970-479-2333.
Student Recycled Art Display: Monday, Nov. 14-19, Vail Public Library Galleria
