This late summer bloom is one of the last reminders of the summer wildflower season. Blooming from the valley bottoms to the alpine, the classic five petals open up in the sun creating a bottle shape and the colloquial name “bottle gentian.” Look for a fringed variety on Uneva Peak, the deep purple bottle on Lonesome Lake trail, and the white arctic gentian atop Missouri and Fancy passes.
